Trek's X-Caliber is the way to jump headlong into the world of mountain biking. It sports Trek's nimble Gold Series aluminum frame and a plush 75mm-travel Suntour suspension fork for a light, lively ride and confidence over rocks, roots, potholes—you name it. And that confidence is only helped by the big 29-inch wheels and knobby tires. You'll enjoy easy pedaling and complete control thanks to the quick-shifting 24-speed drivetrain and sure-stopping mechanical-disc brakes. Plus, you'll love the comfy Bontrager seat.
When you wield the X-Caliber 7, your kingly rides will become legend. Trek uses a sleek, light Gold Series aluminum frame featuring their ride-enhancing G2 geometry for superior cornering, climbing and descending. Adding to those attributes is a set of steamrolling wheels and a 100mm-travel fork that smooths the trail and steers you through the roughest terrain. Component highlights include a Shimano 27-speed drivetrain, and Shimano disc brakes that give you awesome stopping power in any and all conditions. And with Trek's Smart Wheel sizing, you're riding the fastest wheels with the best possible fit.
The trail waits in anticipation, the woods are quiet, then WHOOSH! The sound of tires pierces the silence. Big wheels roll over the roots, wide tires rip through berms and 120mm of travel tames the rocks. The 29er has grown up from its XC roots with Trek's Stache 7. Trek loaded the aluminum frame with all the marks of a fully capable trail bike like a tapered head tube, ISCG05 mounts, dropper-post routing and a 142x12mm through-axle rear end. That rear end in enhanced by wonderfully short chainstays that make this 29er rail twists and turns like it was its job. Which it is. The specs are just as legit with 2x10 Race Face cranks and SLX gearing including the new Plus rear derailleur that sports a clutch to keep chain retention high and chain slap low. The hardtail is officially back ladies and gentlemen!
