Details
From cruising back roads to enjoying all-day epics to checking out the racing circuit, Trek's Madone 4.5 Compact WSD does it all. This full-carbon beauty boasts a stiff, light frame that floats up the climbs, along with Bontrager's Race Lite oversize carbon fork that provides maximum steering precision. Plus, Bontrager's wheelset cheats the wind, while the Shimano components include 20 speeds to get you up any hill and powerful dual-pivot brakes for complete control on the way back down. This able roadster also sports a sweet line-up of Bontrager's carbon and aluminum components, and a women's-specific Bontrager seat, too.
Bontrager's Race Lite Carbon Fork (left) uses a standard 1 1/8-inch steerer diameter at the top in combination with a 1 1/2-inch bottom diameter to increase fork stiffness and strength. This ingenious design also significantly reduces the weight thanks to its oversize bottom, which allows using a hollow aluminum crown bonded to the carbon legs (as opposed to the solid aluminum crowns found on most traditional forks; shown on the right). Trek's oversize E2 head tube adds strength and stiffness. The result is an unbelievably stiff and super-light front end.

I got a new seat immediately and got fitted at my LBS, which made the bike so comfortable that sometimes I actually forget I am riding. My husband just upgraded his wheels and gave me his carbon wheels so now my bike is a rocket! I love the color scheme and everything about my bike.

"No suspension"? "Too rigid"? Are you kidding me!? It's a road bike! It's supposed to be rigid. If you want suspension, buy a mountain bike. This bike is perfect for avid to competitive cyclists who are looking for an entry into the world of full carbon road bikes. Light, fast, stiff, and responsive. Buy this bike, I did.

Comments:
Well this is my first road bike so I have nothing to compare to but it's great! I go out almost every night and sometimes with friends, and you can see that it's fast. It's very light, making hills a simple task. Riding just is so much more fun now because you can go farther and faster and the ride is real smooth! The only thing I would complain about is the white handle bar tape (gets so dirty!), but that can be changed.
